crookneck \crook"neck`\, n. Either of two varieties of squash, distinguished by their tapering, recurved necks. The {summer crookneck} is botanically a variety of the pumpkin ({Cucurbita pepo}) and matures early in the season. It is pale yellow in color, with warty excrescences.
