Virtual Local Area Network
VLAN

   <networking> (VLAN) A logical grouping of two or more {nodes}
   which are not necessarily on the same physical {network
   segment} but which share the same {IP} {network number}.  This
   is often associated with {switched Ethernet}.

   IEEE 802.1Q is a VLAN standard.
