Shah \Shah\ (sh[aum]), n. [Per. sh[=a]h a king, sovereign,
   prince. Cf. {Checkmate}, {Chess}, {Pasha}.]
   A former title of the supreme ruler in certain Eastern
   countries, especially Persia and Iran. [Written also
   {schah}.]
