Resumption \Re*sump"tion\, n. [cf. F. r['e]sumption, L.
resumptio restoration, recovery, fr. resumere. See {Resume}.]
1. The act of resuming; as, the resumption of a grant, of
delegated powers, of an argument, of specie payments, etc.

specie by the banks is general. It also signifies to take things back; as
the government has resumed the possession of all the lands which have not
