Tarsius \Tar"si*us\, n. [NL. See {Tarsus}.] (Zool.)
   A genus of nocturnal lemurine mammals having very large eyes
   and ears, a long tail, and very long proximal tarsal bones;
   -- called also {malmag}, {spectral lemur}, {podji}, and
   {tarsier}.
