Trehala \Tre*ha"la\, n. (Chem.) An amorphous variety of manna obtained from the nests and cocoons of a Syrian coleopterous insect ({Larinus maculatus}, {Larinus nidificans}, etc.) which feeds on the foliage of a variety of thistle.
