   A large European scaraboid beetle ({Geotrupes stercorarius}),
   which makes a droning noise while flying. The name is also
   applied to allied American species, as the {June bug}. Called
   also {dorr}, {dorbeetle}, or {dorrbeetle}, {dorbug},
   {dorrfly}, and {buzzard clock}.
