Strombus \Strom"bus\, n. [L., fr. Gr. ?.] (Zool.)
   A genus of marine gastropods in which the shell has the outer
   lip dilated into a broad wing. It includes many large and
   handsome species commonly called {conch shells}, or {conchs}.
