Cob \Cob\, n. [Cf. AS. cop, copp, head, top, D. kop, G. kopf,
   kuppe, LL. cuppa cup (cf. E. brainpan), and also W. cob tuft,
   spider, cop, copa, top, summit, cobio to thump. Cf. {Cop}
