Sea clam \Sea" clam`\ (Zool.)
Any one of the large bivalve mollusks found on the open
seacoast, especially those of the family {Mactridae}, as the
common American species. ({Mactra solidissima} or {Spisula
solidissima}); -- called also {beach clam}, and {surf clam}.
