   1. Having a bay, chestnut, brown, or black color, with gray
      or white thickly interspersed; -- said of a horse.

   {Roan antelope} (Zool.), a very large South African antelope
      ({Hippotragus equinus}). It has long sharp horns and a

      antelope}, and {bastard gemsbok}.
