Skirret \Skir"ret\, n. [A corrupted form equivalent to
   sugarwort.] (Bot.)
   An umbelliferous plant ({Sium Sisarum} syn. {Pimpinella
   Sisarum}). It is a native of Asia, but has been long
   cultivated in Europe for its edible clustered tuberous roots,
   which are very sweet.
