bonobo \bo*no"bo\ (b[-o]*n[=o]"b[=o]), n. An anthropoid ape ({Pan paniscus}), resembling but smaller than the common chimpanzee ({Pan troglodytes}); -- called also {pygmy chimpanzee}.
