Ant-lion \Ant"-li`on\, n. (Zool.)
   A neuropterous insect, the larva of which makes in the sand a
   pitfall to capture ants, etc. The common American species is
   {Myrmeleon obsoletus}, the European is {Myrmeleon
   formicarius}.
