Lapidary \Lap"i*da*ry\, a. [L. lapidarius pertaining to stone:
   cf. F. lapidaire.]
   1. Of or pertaining to the art of cutting stones, or
      engraving on stones, either gems or monuments; as,
      lapidary ornamentation.
