   forest, jungle; Skr. ja[.n]gala desert.]
   1. A dense growth of brushwood, grasses, reeds, vines, etc.;
      an almost impenetrable thicket of trees, canes, and reedy
      vegetation, as in India, Africa, Australia, and Brazil.
