Jam \Jam\, n. [Prob. fr. jam, v.; but cf. also Ar. jamad ice,
   jelly, j[=a]mid congealed, jamd congelation, ice.]
   A preserve of fruit boiled with sugar and water; also called
   {jelly}; as, raspberry jam; currant jam; grape jam.
