Ar. tuf[=a]n a violent storm; probably fr. Gr. tyfw^n,
tyfw^s, a violent whirlwind, that rushes upward from the
earth, whirling clouds of dust (cf. {Typhus}); or perhaps
from Chin. t'ai-fung a cyclonic wind.]
