Transport Layer Security protocol
TLS

   <networking, protocol> (TLS) A {protocol} designed to allow
   {client/server} applications to communicate over the
   {Internet} without {eavesdropping}, {tampering}, or {message
   forgery}.

   TLS is defined in {RFC 2246}.
