Terreplein \Terre"plein`\, n. [F., fr. L. terra earth + planus
   even, level, plain.]
   1. (Fort.) The top, platform, or horizontal surface, of a
      rampart, on which the cannon are placed. See Illust. of
      {Casemate}.
