   vb. n. {Surbating}.] [F. solbatu, p. p., bruised (said of a
   horse's foot); sole a sole (of a horse's foot) + battu, p. p.
   of battre to beat.]
   1. To make sore or bruise, as the feet by travel. [Obs.]
