   skw[=a]"m[i^]-), n.; pl. {Squamipennes} (-p[e^]n"n[=e]z). [L.
   squama a scale + penna a fin: cf. F. squamipenne.] (Zool.)
   Any one of a group of fishes having the dorsal and anal fins
   partially covered with scales.

   Note: They are compressed and mostly, bright-colored tropical
         fishes, belonging to {Chaetodon} and allied genera.
         Many of them are called {coral fishes}, and {angel
         fishes}.
