Shamoying \Sha*moy"ing\, n. [See {Shammy}.]
   A process used in preparing certain kinds of leather, which
   consists in frizzing the skin, and working oil into it to
   supply the place of the astringent (tannin, alum, or the
   like) ordinarily used in tanning.
