Serrate \Ser"rate\, Serrated \Ser"ra*ted\, a. [L. serratus, fr.
   serra a saw; perhaps akin to secare to cut, E. saw a cutting
   instrument. Cf. {Sierra}.]
   1. Notched on the edge, like a saw.
