   Gr. ? a headland) + -oid.] (Zool.)
   Like or pertaining to fishes of the genus {Scopelus}, or
   family {Scopelodae}, which includes many small oceanic
   fishes, most of which are phosphorescent. -- n. (Zool.) Any
   fish of the family {Scopelidae}.
