rare mode
 adj.

   [Unix] CBREAK mode (character-by-character with interrupts enabled).
   Distinguished from {raw mode} and {cooked mode}; the phrase "a sort of
   half-cooked (rare?) mode" is used in the V7/BSD manuals to describe
   the mode. Usage: rare.
