Pyrogallol \Pyr`o*gal"lol\, n. [Pyrogallic + -ol.] (Chem.) A phenol metameric with phloroglucin, obtained by the distillation of gallic acid as a poisonous white crystalline substance having acid properties, and hence called also {pyrogallic acid}.
