Pterotic \Pte*ro"tic\, a. [Gr. ? wing + ?, ?, ear.] (Anat.)
   Of or pertaining to, or designating, a bone between the
   prootic and epiotic in the dorsal and outer part of the
   periotic capsule of many fishes. -- n. The pterotic bone.
