Polarizer \Po"lar*i`zer\, n. (Physics)
   That which polarizes; especially, the part of a polariscope
   which receives and polarizes the light. It is usually a
   reflecting plate, or a plate of some crystal, as tourmaline,
   or a doubly refracting crystal.
