Planipennia \Pla`ni*pen"ni*a\, n. pl. [NL., fr. L. planus plane
   + penna wing.] (Zool.)
   A suborder of Neuroptera, including those that have broad,
   flat wings, as the ant-lion, lacewing, etc. Called also
   {Planipennes}.
