Pharmacognosis \Phar`ma*cog*no"sis\, n. [Gr. fa`rmakon a drug +
   gnw^sis a knowing.]
   That branch of pharmacology which treats of unprepared
   medicines or simples; -- usually called {pharmacognosy}, and
   also {pharmacography}, and {pharmacomathy}.
