Perameles \Per`a*me"les\, n. [NL., fr. Gr. ? a pouch + L. meles
   a badger.] (Zool.)
   Any marsupial of the genus {Perameles}, which includes
   numerous species found in Australia. They somewhat resemble
   rabbits in size and form. See Illust. under {Bandicoot}.
