1. (Chem.) A red amorphous powder consisting of ferric oxide.
It is used in polishing glass, metal, or gems, and as a
cosmetic, etc. Called also {crocus}, {jeweler's rouge},
etc.

lips. The best is prepared from the dried flowers of the
