Gravel \Grav"el\, n. [OF. gravele, akin to F. gr?ve a sandy
shore, strand; of Celtic origin; cf. Armor. grouan gravel, W.
gro coarse gravel, pebbles, and Skr. gr[=a]van stone.]

often intermixed with particles of sand.
