Firefish \Fire"fish`\, n. (Zool.)
   A singular marine fish of the genus {Pterois}, family
   {Scorp[ae]nid[ae]}, of several species, inhabiting the
   Indo-Pacific region. They are usually red, and have very
   large spinose pectoral and dorsal fins.
