derived type

   <programming> A {type} constructed from {primitive types} or
   other derived types using a {type constructor function}.  This
   term is usually applied to {procedural languages} such as {C}
   or {Ada}.  C's derived types are the {array}, {function},
   {pointer}, {structure}, and {union}.
