Colloid \Col"loid\, n.
1. (Physiol. Chem.) A substance (as albumin, gum, gelatin,
etc.) which is of a gelatinous rather than a crystalline
nature, and which diffuses itself through animal membranes
or vegetable parchment more slowly than crystalloids do;
