Chlorous \Chlo"rous\, a. [See {Chlorine}.]
   1. Of, pertaining to, or derived from, chlorine; -- said of
      those compounds of chlorine in which this element has a
      valence of three, the next lower than in chloric
      compounds; as, chlorous acid, {HClO2}.
