   fr. pileus a felt cap or hat.]
   1. Having the form of a cap for the head.

   {Pileated woodpecker} (Zool.), a large American woodpecker
      ({Ceophloeus pileatus}). It is black, with a bright red
      pointed crest. Called also {logcock}, and {woodcock}.
