Succinimide \Suc`cin*im"ide\, n. (Chem.)
   A white crystalline nitrogenous substance, {C2H4.(CO)2.NH},
   obtained by treating succinic anhydride with ammonia gas. It
   is a typical imido acid, and forms a series of salts. See
