Bunsen cell \Bun"sen cell\ (Elec.)
   A zinc-carbon cell in which the zinc (amalgamated) is
   surrounded by dilute sulphuric acid, and the carbon by nitric
   acid or a chromic acid mixture, the two plates being
   separated by a porous cup.
