Anophyte \An"o*phyte\ ([a^]n"[-o]*f[imac]t), n. [Gr. 'a`nw
   upward (fr. 'ana` up) + fyto`n a plant, fy`ein to grow.]

   A moss or mosslike plant which cellular stems, having usually
   an upward growth and distinct leaves.
