   sharp, OF. fem. ague, LL. (febris) acuta, a sharp, acute
   fever, fr. L. acutus sharp. See {Acute}.]
   1. An acute fever. [Obs.] "Brenning agues." --P. Plowman.

   2. (Med.) A fever characterized by paroxysms of high fever
      and shaking chills.
