Static \Stat"ic\ (st[a^]t"[i^]k), Statical \Stat"ic*al\
   (-[i^]*kal), a. [Gr. statiko`s causing to stand, skilled in
   weighing, fr. 'ista`nai to cause to stand: cf. F. statique.
