   1. (Med.) Of or pertaining to spasm; consisting in spasm;
      occuring in, or characterized by, spasms; as, a spasmodic
      asthma.

   {Spasmodic croup} (Med.), an affection of childhood
      characterized by a stoppage of brathing developed suddenly
