Hard grass

Hard grass \Hard" grass`\ (gr[.a]s`). (Bot.)
   A name given to several different grasses, especially to the
   {Roltb["o]llia incurvata}, and to the species of {Aegilops},
   from one of which it is contended that wheat has been
   derived.
