Bridle iron \Bri"dle i`ron\ (Arch.)
   A strong flat bar of iron, so bent as to support, as in a
   stirrup, one end of a floor timber, etc., where no sufficient
   bearing can be had; -- called also {stirrup} and {hanger}.
